These incredibly special Suhr Roasted Recovered Sinker Maple guitars have a character and presence that perfectly accentuates their striking aesthetic, made even better by the story behind this wholly unique and truly one-of-a-kind tone wood. Based on a platform of astonishing playability and the perfect amalgamation of vintage appeal and modern touches, what you get is the same unmistakable tone from a guitar built to the absolute highest standard of craftsmanship. Carefully hand-picked woods, HUGE resonance and sustain, and a host of one-off DG appointed features.

The maple neck of these guitars were crafted from old slow growth timber that rested in the depths of the Great Lakes for approximately 100 years. The cold temperature and low oxygen content of the water preserved the wood in near perfect condition. Most old slow growth wood at the bottom of the Great Lakes was harvested in the late 1800’s from areas in Canada, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. This wood is scarce today, as it is estimated that 10% to 30% of these logs sank to the bottom of the Great Lakes on the way to port. Once the wood dried, it was roasted to eliminate moisture, resulting in a resonant and stable neck. Our suppliers have gone to great lengths to recover these sunken pieces of North American heritage and history. This wood is an example of our dedication to source the finest, most toneful woods for our customers.
