The Hamer Artist is the perfect answer to the run-of-the-mill, big-box brands that have stopped catering to the gigging musician and focusing on the details. Why pay more for a fraction of the quality?? Hamer guitars have had a cult following for a great reason, with support from artists such as Slash and Steely Dan's Jon Herrington. The Artist series was the evolution of the original Hamer double cutaway design from 1977. Between the incredible tone and unparalleled playability, it's no wonder at all why so many players praise these instruments.
"This example is called the Artist Ultimate and it features over two-hundred-fifty individually cut pieces of shell inlaid around the entire guitar. I like to use large pieces, cut to shape around the curves of the body and headstock. It’s more time consuming to do, but it looks better than using a lot of little pieces. There’s over fourteen hours of inlay and binding work in the neck alone."
Acoustically, you can tell right from the outset that the craftsmanship here is absolutely top notch. The body woods ring and resonate as clear as a bell, and the sustain seems to carry on forever. Not only does the Artist nail those familar, vintage ES335 tones, it's also highly versatile. There is a plethora of sounds in this guitar - anything from smooth, silky jazz to snarling, high-gain crunch. It is a beautiful example of a rare instrument, and is in NEAR MINT condition with very light finish swirls.
