Description
This vintage Gibson G-II Double Cut is about as unusual as it gets for Gibson - 24 frets, a tremolo / whammy bar, and hot-rodded single coil pickups... which is exactly why we LOVE it! The warm, rich Mahogany tone that Gibson is known for is all there, except with a unique twist that sets it apart from the rest. This guitar was hand built in Nashville, as indicated on the stamp underneath the clearcoat on the back of the headstock. It plays and feels like a late 50s Gibson, with a chunkier neck carve that perfectly fits your hand. Les Paul or SG enthusiasts would feel right at home here; you won't find a cleaner, more exciting instrument for this kind of value!
As evidenced by the photos, the instrument is in great shape, with nothing but a few very small nicks on the lower bout, and light swirl marks throughout. It plays like a dream - low, comfortable action, and a very precise intonation as a result of the nearly nonexistent playwear on the neck and fingerboard. The pickups are hot; anything from a gritty Les Paul tone to an atypical Tele Spank can be dialed in effortlessly. This one is a keeper!
